Simply Perfect Welcoming

When you're planning your interior, it's important to create spaces you love - with or without guests. It's partly about flooding these areas with light and selecting timeless, elegant and versatile furniture and accessories.

But it's also about your personal attachment to these spaces. When you're in love with your home, it shows. And as we know, people are drawn to love like moths to a flame.

The owner of this home created its wood floors from trees cleared to make room for the house. That's a special kind of love that you truly feel when you enter the home.

 The Power of Nature

Studies show that people are happier when they spend time in nature. We believe a close second is bringing nature indoors.

This home's wood floor and phenomenal slide-of-wood table set the tone in the open concept kitchen and dining area. To pick up and carry that theme, we added a raw-styled wood cutting board, slice-of-wood napkin rings and chunks of wood next to seeded-glass vases as the centerpiece. A touch of seasonal greenery literally brings nature right to the table.

Combining natural wood with metal is one of our favorite design solutions. Metal shows up in brass plated mounted on the wall, hammered copper utensils and in the bar area.

Set the Bar High

The bar area, conveniently located right next to the kitchen, features a stunning open cabinet. Its metal frame and glass shelves show off the distressed wood backdrop for added dimension and character. Liquor bottles and glasses have never looked as classy and elegant as they do in this cabinet!

A small wood bar accessory holder echoes the wood and metal combination we see throughout the space.

Have a Seat

If you're going to entertain, you'll need seating. Chairs at the wood table are a weathered taupe wood, with grey linen upholstery and exposed nailheads. Off to the side is a more contemporary chair featuring a metal frame, leather arm rests and grey fabric.

At one of the two white marble islands, we used a distinctive yet durable swivel chair with leather on the front and fabric on the back. Tucked under the other island are sturdy metal stools topped with wood seats.

We Gather Together

For Thanksgiving holidays, you can decorate with cornucopias, pumpkins, ghosts and much more. We've kept the seasonal accessories to a minimum here to really highlight the space on its own.

Our nod to the season is best shown in a shallow wood tray, placed just so on the marble countertop. Inside the tray rest our beloved Plush Pumpkins in autumn jewel tones, and a sort of meta-log, consisting of wood pieces held together with metal straps, and vines and greenery and several random slices of wood.
