The Beauty of Character

We love having the opportunity to work with older homes, because so many of our pieces also have character. This antique railroad cart complete industrial strength wheels, makes a nearly indestructible table. Metal vases with succulents are also sturdy and orderly.
A simple leather chair with wooden arms is safe for kids, comfortable and easy to clean. The grey, low pile plush rug is forgiving, while its texture creates movement.
The fireplace is original to the house. We painted and glazed it in charcoal black glaze and highlighted the application in a black decorating glaze. The wrought iron metal fireplace screen completes this purely classic feature.
The cream sofa is tufted all the way around, Scotchgarded for durability and adorned with textured black and white throw pillows.
Taking a wider look, the orderly progression of vases, round mirrors above the fireplace and unique sconces creates the sense of uncluttered simplicity we’re striving for.
The stunning wood desk is a found piece, with a metal end, showing years of worldly experience. Our favorite baseball glove leather chair provides comfort and utility. The refinished lawyer’s chest behind the desk holds favorites.
On the stairs, black spindles and white kick plates continue the theme established in the kitchen. The stair runner, a pinstriped black, white blue and taupe, makes this wood staircase safer for children.
Metal suitcases and the adorable black and white cat, Penelope, complete the look.
