Pattern Play
Mixing patterns is often something people avoid when it comes to assembling an outfit. It can be daunting and, frankly, catastrophic when done wrong. So, we pieced together an example to show you patterns that work well together and explain why! We’ve layered a neutral wrap dress over a graphic tee paired with camo skinny jeans
We’ve layered a neutral wrap dress over a graphic tee paired with camo skinny jeans.
Why it works:
-
This camouflage actually reads more like a solid than a pattern because the colors are close together on the color spectrum, meaning there’s very little variation between them.
-
The saturated green camo is paired with an unsaturated, neutral-toned wrap. If the jeans had been more washed out or if the wrap had been brighter, the combo may not have worked.
-
The graphic tee adds another element, yet it is simple enough that it doesn’t overpower or fight with the patterns we chose.
We hope these simple tips inspire you to play around with patterns yourself!
